I’m sure that many origami lovers know the water bomb. But I’m also sure that they don’t know that one use for the water bomb is as a fly trap. Flies are caught and placed in the water bomb. Their are enclosured in a confined space, wich strikingly amplifies the buzzing of the flies. Also it was used for the making of smoke rings. You can read more about it in this post.
But I’m not writing this to talk about the water bomb. The purpose of this post is to show you how to create paper string lights.
The most important thing to create a lovely paper string is the paper. You must choose a thin sheet because the lights are not very powerful and you need some transparency. But also you need a consistent paper for a good assembly. Once I used baking paper and I the result was terrible, because I needed glue to connect the parts.
It’s also important choose a good string. It must be LED because other lights can become too hot and burn the paper. You can find stings with 10, 20, 30 or more lights but think that you must create as many water bombs as lights. They are really easy to find in Christmas but you can buy them the all the year on eBay and in lighting shops.
Finally I show you the first wreath that I folded. I used a handmade paper and folded it upside down, with the drawing inward. When the wreath is off the paper looks white, but when switched you can see the notes.
